The Nazi Stamp

Image result for german meme

A while back I encountered one of these incidents that I am about to describe here.

Let me start off with my first encounter when I was on a family trip on an island of Portugal. My mother, being blonde with green eyes, sometimes gets mistaken for being Swedish but the moment she said she was German, a blunt "Nazi" was said by the curious bus guest. My mouth just dropped.

Fast forward few years later and nothing has changed actually. Still Germans are being seen as Nazis, no matter what. Proud of your country...not patriotic...Nazi. Being grammatically correct...Grammer Nazi. You didn't have anything to do with World War II, still a Nazi. There is no stopping to this craziness. But let's be real, Germany wasn't the only country who effed up, ok! Am I right or right?

The story starts off that I am biracial, binational or however you want to call it. My father being American and my mother being German. Best of both worlds as everyone says but also the burden of both. I love both of my nationalities and am proud of what both countries have achieved.

Anyways one day I was working at the register of an US Army supplier on an installation in Germany (so yes there are many binational marriages, German workers etc.). This one particular customer came in. A MP officer. Not only that, she was of African American decent. She was fussing about how the phone company supposedly screwed her over with the telephone bill. Not too much longer, the N-Bomb fell. I was taken back to the incident many years before on the bus. My jaw dropped once again but this time my body filled with rage and anger. One of my coworkers noticed and moved the lady aside before I was able to blurt something out.

It hurt me deeply because I realized nothing had changed of the perception of a German. I was also mad that she had used the word so loosely because she probably wouldn't have been fond of someone yelling out N****.

Shortly after, she came to my register and apologized for her behavior, which I appreciated. I did make it clear to her, that actions like hers led to how Germans were seen by so many, I told her about my situation and the many Germans who worked there or were married to Germans.

Please think before you speak, no matter how mad you are, because one day it might cause some serious trouble.

Top 10 Part II: Shit Customers Say

As much as I would love to add memes to this post, there are times that things are so bad that there aren't any memes for it. This is the time. Here is another list of Top 10: Shit Customers Say. As always I hope you enjoy!

1. So so often I get the pleasure to hear the question from customers: "Working hard?" What should it matter if I'm working hard or working easy, as long as I'm working, right?! It just annoys me so deeply because this question makes me feel like I'm slacking or being lazy at work.

2. So it doesn't matter if you have a sign as big as Mt. Everest, for some reason customers are blind to this. And although this big sign explains everything, here comes your customer with those annoying questions: "Are you out of this? Is this movie in 3D? Do you accept cards? Please dear customer, please be more aware of your surroundings and read for once!!!

 3. I don't know what it is about customers and reading but it's like the moment they walk into the store they forget how to read, hear etc. On a daily basis I am asked how much a product costs. Normal you say, yes but not if the price is on the item and there are scanners everywhere (signs indicate them but then again we have the problem with reading).

4. This one is simple, a customer asks for help BUT they don't tell you with what. I'm not a mind reader and there a more things in the store than just one item. So next time if you need help, please tell me with what!
5. Although customers might be able to tell that you're busy, they still always find a way to stop you to ask the most simple things. The best thing is usually whatever they are looking for is right next or behind them. Also there are customers who think that they have priority and although they see you helping another customer won't budge from your side.

6. The whole store could be on clearance and you will always find a customer that will ask for more sales. I know you want to save money but stop coming in every single day asking about sales or anything additional. Best part of it all, when there finally is a sale and they miss out on it.

7. Everyone has a clumsy day but sometimes I ask myself if I was hired as a custodial worker or maid. Take responsibility and clean up your own mess.

8. I couldn't find a meme for this one even though it is one of the most annoying thing a customer could ask. "Can you check the warehouse?" WHHHHHYYY me?! Now I need to walk the 7 seas, pass the Himalayas to find that one product.

9. I especially love those customers that will buy an item and return it past the return time and throw a fit if you don't accepts. This also includes not having the receipt, item has been marked down and only get the markdown price back or has already used the product.

10. Customers have no fear of closeness. Like I said before, their senses do not work anymore after they walk into the store. So personal space is not available anymore. Then one gets to hear "Sorry that I'm in your way". Really?! You say that while you push me out of my working area. *Urgh*
